My Spot

I found that I paint more often if I have a specific place to do so. Getting my painting stuff out, spreading it around on the kitchen table and then putting it all back after a few hours tended to be too discouraging. I kept trying to come up with somewhere in the house where it was warm (that cancelled out the basement), where young grandchildren would not get into it, had plenty of storage, but was not so out-of-the-way that it would be “out of sight-out of mind”. Also, no carpet so I could clean up spills. Tried to think of a spot for literally years. I have a FB friend who paints beautifully, and one day he posted a photo of his studio. It was inviting and inspiring and I coveted it. Then I realized I could actually do that in my library - if I found the right desk and found a different spot for my old PC, which I still sometimes use. After six months of looking, I found my desk on marketplace and decided not to worry about spilling water on the carpet. Finally I’m painting again. I would still like to put a bulletin board on the wall facing my chair, however my husband likes the family photos and his great grandfather’s old violin. I’m looking for a different spot for that. When you paint, and you have a sister who paints, there is not a lot of available wall space in the house. Also I need shelves big enough to store paper and paintings. Working on that.
